Computer Based Information System-Free-Samples-Myassignmenthelp.com

Questions: 1. An information system consists of hardware and software. Why is this statement inadequate? 2. What is a problem? Give an example of a business problem and discuss how a computer based information system could solve it. 3. Can an off-the-shelf computer program be used as a Strategic Information System? 4. A Strategic Information System often offers a corporation short-lived advantages. How so? 5. Adobe encourages PC users to download its Acrobat Reader and Flash Player free of charge. How does this eventually help Adobe strategically? If they give the application away, how does their generosity help them make money. Answers: 1.It is inadequate to say that the information system is the collection of hardware and software because the information system is the amalgamation of hardware, software, data, people, procedures, methodology, and telecommunication. The effective management and correlation between all the units result in the development of the information system which is capable of satisfying the demand of the stakeholder (Oz, 2012). 2.The undesirable situation or the risks and issues associated with the project are called as the problem (Wade, 2012). For example: The project manager organizes a project for the management of activities of the store house. The inefficiency of the project can be measured by seeing the difference in the information of the stock available in the storehouse and shown on the database. The difference in the stock availability creates a business problem for the owner 3.Off the shell software is not effective for the strategic information system because it is not rapidly adapted according to the change in requirement of the project stakeholder. It does not focus on satisfying the customer requirement (Ayala, Hauge, Reidar, Franch, Li, 2010). The change in the methodology or procedure is difficult to be handled into the off shell software. The project owner has to give high customization fees associated with the use of off the shell software. 4.The short lived advantages are provided by the strategic information system because the operational capabilities can be effectively managed between the different units of the project such as marketing, sales, manufacturing, production, and etc. (Basu, 2016). The sustainability of the project can be measured by the efficiency of the strategic information system used for completing the project within mentioned deadline and allocated budget. 5.The Adobe provides free software to the PC users so that it helps in attracting new profit towards the company. The customers have to pay service charges of the software and it brings awareness among the user about new software launched by the adobe Adewale, G. (2013). It is becoming the medium of advertising or promoting their software packages among the user. It is the strategically planned scheme of the adobe manager to increase their profit.
